Can Your Dog Swim?
Never throw a dog in the water. Always make new experiences fun and happy!
Begin in very shallow water and try to lure a dog with treats or a toy.
Another friendly dog that likes the water may be used to help your dog make a positive association with the beach or pool.
Swimming is a great form of exercise but be careful that your dog does not become too tired. He will be using different muscles so he must always be supervised. Be able to reach your dog quickly.
Watch closely for hazards and be sure your dog knows how to get out of the pool.
The dog must have access to clean, fresh water and shade.
Signs of Heat Stroke: Panting, Drooling, Rapid Pulse, Fever Immediately immerse the dog in cool water and contact a vet!
